About Us |
Northshore Swim (NS) is a year-round swim instruction facility. During the summer months, the pool is open to the outdoors surrounded by a lush, tropical landscape. Parents are welcome to stay and watch at one of several umbrella covered tables or watch from the pool house where there is a snack bar, restroom and changing facilities. In addition, the pool house houses water safety instruction- a Red Cross video presentation of the "Do's and Don'ts" around water. For the fall, winter and spring months, the pool is enclosed and the water heated. An air-filled dome structure is placed over the pool and deck area providing a comfortable environment to learn and watch. Swimming is a learned skill that takes time, practice and repetition to master with confidence for not only fun and sport, but also for safety. For this reason, NS strongly encourages and promotes swimming year-round for cardio conditioning along with skill development. NS is managed and directed by Gitte Tannehill. Gitte holds a Master's Degree in Education, is an American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor, a Certified Lifeguard and a Professional Rescuer. In 2005, Gitte, "Ms. Gitte" as she is called by her students, completed "Aqua-Babies" instruction that was taught by a United States Swim School Association (USSSA) licensed instructor in California and also, in Denmark, Gitte's country of origin where she earned her swim instructor's certificate. Over the past 10 years, Gitte has consistently provided quality instruction. Next to having fun, her highest priority is getting results in the pool. Rounding out the staff at Northshore Swim is Sarah, Anna, and Britt Tannehill who are all American Red Cross Water Safety Instructors (WSI) and each have swim team experience. That's right, it's a family affair- let us get you and your loved ones safe and having fun in the water. Call, email, or write to us today. We welcome you to Northshore Swim! A new addition to the team is Mark Becnel. He is a Red Cross Lifeguard Instructor, Red Cross Water Safety Instructor and an instructor for Boy Scouts.
FacilityIn-ground 32,000 gallon heated pool with 50' lap lane and 16' x 20' teaching square. The pool is kept at an optimal 88 degrees at all times- Never blues lips or bathtub hot swimming at Northshore Swim. In the cold, we put up a bubble. Take the tour below to see the bubble. In addition to having a heater, Northshore's pool can be cooled in the summer by turning on its built-in fountain. The pool was designed for teaching- shallow depth, and step benches for the small swimmers, and chairs and tables on deck for the parents to watch poolside. Take a tour of our facility!
